New. Signed. Glass vase from David Salazar's exquisite Blue Iridized Glass Collection. This beautiful vase stands 4" tall, 4.25" wide at it's widest part, and the opening of the vase is at the brim is 3.5" wide. It weighs almost 13 ounces. The coloring of this vase is very unique. This vase is Iridized Glass which by definition is: flat or blown glass sprayed with a vapor deposit of metal oxides for an iridescent finish. The iridized layer, which resembles an oil slick, can be selectively removed for a two-tone effect. In this vase, the iridized finish has been removed to create a decorate swirl pattern. The coloring of the vase is shimmery aurene iridescent surface in which tones of blue, green, purple and gold dance about depending on how the light hits the glass. I've included a few pictures for scale, one with my hand and one with some sharpie pens. The pens are not included. David Salazar's art glass is highly collectible. Drawing on almost thirty years of experience, David uses the techniques of torchwork, lampwork and millefiori to create his dazzling art glass . Every piece is individually hand crafted, from the melting and coloring of the glass, drawing of rods and millefiori, to the design and construction of the furnaces and ovens. David's original designs celebrate life, romance and nature, especially marine life, and have been featured in Smithsonian Magazine and in L.H. Selman's book All About Paperweights.
